EA has recently released a single player demo for their upcoming WWII game, Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault. The download weighs in at a hefty 534MB and contains two full levels from the game.
I remember when I first played the D-Day level in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, how I gazed in awe of the chaos all around me, only to get torn apart by the seemingly omniscient and undeniably omnipotent machine guns beyond. I would take momentary cover wherever I could find it as I made my way up the beach. Like clockwork the screaming guns would follow me wherever I went. For a moment, this tension, mixed with the distraction of watching a horde of men walk straight into their doom, almost made me forget that I was playing a video game. It’s these kinds of moments that make a video game magical.
From the screenshots available on its Website, Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault looks very promising. However, as we all know, looks aren’t everything. Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault has a lot to live up to, if it plans to walk in the footsteps of Allied Assault. In a market that’s absolutely flooded with WWII games, I can only hope that the most recent Medal of Honor will be able to provide the freshness and quality that the series is so well known for.
