It’s known that, before his horrendously poorly-timed death, comedy sci-fi author Douglas Adams was an enthusiast for the world of video games, writing a couple of text adventures for Infocom back in the day and, more recently, heading up his Starship Titanic project. Well, it seems his original Hitch-Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy text adventure is being revived, to coincide with the current interest in Hitch-Hiker’s Guide being generated in the run-up to the new movie. BBC News reports that the adventure will appear on the BBC Radio 4 website with new illustrations by Rod Lord, the graphic artist who originally worked on the low-budget HHG TV show.
While the adventure is considered slightly poor by interactive fiction buffs, and while this probably won’t mean a thing to all the Counter-Strike playing, Lara Croft-ogling gamer crowd of now, I’m writing about it anyway, because I’m a nostalgic twerp who is therefore probably a lot cleverer than you.
