Ever wonder what happened to favorite, older games? Well, there may be a chance that it’s still out there but this time without the price tag. Liberated Games has recently opened shop, offering a resource for gamers to find old discontinued games that have been now opened to the public, for free. Some of the more notable titles on the Liberated Games list are: Abuse, Aliens Vs Predator, Grand Theft Auto, Quake I & II, Tribes I & II and The Elder Scrolls: Arena. The list is impressively long, including both games that have been released for free and games that have been released with their source code.

Such a comprehensive list of “liberated” games is something that the game industry has been lacking for some time. Now, with improved visibility and easier access, these older titles have a chance to be reborn. Fans also have a chance to soak up the nostalgia and relive old times. With the release of the source code for various games, burgeoning developers or hobbyists can also learn from the creations of the past, or use them to create all new games. The developers releasing these older games for free are not only displaying a great sign of good faith, they are also providing an excellent way to have a lot of fun at absolutely no cost.
