It seems the German video game market is hurting right now because they show no love for the violence in the industry today. Why should Germans not love hijacking cars and blowing up evil demons from Hell? According to Reuters, it might have to do with Germany’s Nazi past. Manfred Gerdes, managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment in Germany had this to say:
“Germany is really a special case due to our history. Our government is always making excuses for what happened 60 years ago. People hate violent games.”
Oh well, one more country that does not like video game violence is not that bad. Leaves more copies of Doom 3 for the rest of the world to play!
