Gamespy brings us the news that publisher Vivendi Universal and developer Elixir Studios are putting the finishing touches to their new god-game, Evil Genius. Players will be invited to step into the grey jumpsuit of an international supervillain, and must maintain a secret doom fortress full of henchmen in orange jumpsuits. The release date is set at September 28th, which gives us another month and a bit to practise our diabolical laughter. Do you do the ‘mwu ha ha’ thing or do you favour the ‘bwa ha ha’ sound? These are decisions you really have to consider.

Personally, I hope this game will give gamers the opportunity to address some of the really quite elementary mistakes movie villains make when building their doom fortresses. For example, is it really necessary to have ventilation shafts comfortably large enough to accommodate a smug secret agent, a battery of weapons and a love interest character in a skimpy bikini? And if you must have a self destruct button, would it really be too costly to install a ‘cancel self destruct’ button next to it?
