USA Today Study Finds Men Prefer TV to Games

According to a recent study by USA Today, men are more likely to pick their TVs over their video game systems if given the choice. I know that USA Today is normally an amazingly accurate and informed news source, but please allow me to poke a few holes in their story. “Without the TV, the game’s kind of useless isn’t it?” explained one taker of the study.
This is true, however, if you are using that logic you could give them the choice between their game console and their controller or maybe the choice between their TV and electricity. I think that if the game systems stood on their own — and didn’t require their obvious technological counterpart as a necessity — this study may reflect a more accurate representation of what American men really want. Perhaps the choice between cable/satellite TV and their gaming system would have helped put the actual numbers into perspective.
The study also revealed that younger men play more video games and use instant messaging more than older men. Thank you, USA Today, for giving us solid numbers to back up what 100% of the world’s population would have already guessed.
