It seems like déjà vu. It is yet another pet food recall. Mars Petcare has issued a recall because of salmonella concerns:

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is making an educated best guess. The FDA has listed tomatoes as a safe product again, in spite of the fact that people still are becoming ill with salmonella.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not identified tomatoes as the definite source of the salmonella problem. Other products are being investigated as the source of the outbreak:
“…Raw jalapeños, serranos and cilantro, key ingredients in Mexican cooking, are now being linked along with tomatoes to the outbreak of salmonella that has sickened [...]

It might be tomatoes; and it might not be tomatoes. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration does not know what is causing the salmonella. The investigation into the source of the salmonella broadens to other produce, as the number of reported illnesses reaches a thousand people - with the numbers increasing:

The concern about salmonella, initially linked to tomatoes, began in April. Now, in the first week of July, there is some doubt raised as to whether it is the tomatoes that is the source of the problem:
