Twitter Fights Phishing and Malware
As the popularity of Twitter increases, it also is receiving increased attention from hackers involved with malware and phishing. Twitter is recognizing that protecting their users is a priority. It safeguards their reputation:
“Twitter is finally being proactive about the large number of phishing scams that have plagued the micro-blogging service in the past year. On Wednesday, Twitter introduced its own anti-phishing service designed to protect its users from these types of attacks. The new security measures will focus on Twitter direct messages (DMs) — private tweets addressed to a specific user — and corresponding e-mail notifications…“

It is also a reminder to have your security programs updates to the latest definitions. Hackers are counting that you are relaxing and messaging on Twitter and not thinking about security. And that works to the hackers’ advantage.
