Mary Travers Is Gone - The Music Endures

The passing of Mary Travers touched many generations. The songs of Peter, Paul and Mary became classics. In our family, Puff was the Magic Dragon. As children, there were no hidden messages or social subtleties. And “Leaving on a Jet Plane” was the tune that our father would be singing, when his packed black suitcase would appear near the kitchen door.
As children, we thought our father was so clever with these songs. We learned later that he ’stole’ them from Peter, Paul and Mary.
A moving tribute was done by Kathy Riordan on her Open Salon space. Mary Travers’ music endures. And Puff always will be “the magic dragon, lived by the sea; and frolicked in the autumn mist in a land called honah lee“.

What wonderful music, I was fortunate enough to see them perform live. What a rare treat. R.I.P. Mary.
