Good News for Hackers: Security Budgets Lowered

It is really good news for criminal and hackers. They already know but the present economy is having an impact on security budgets. The funds are not available and so the amount to be spent on security is lowered:

“Due to strained budgets, some IT departments are cutting funding for technologies that could help mitigate threats they are most concerned about, according to a survey from RSA Conference, released Wednesday.”

Data bases will be more at risk. A security breach can be costly. The security breach at TJX Companies Inc, which governs T.J. Maxx and Marshalls, was settled recently for $9.7 million. On top of that there were expenses and damaging public relations.

It seems that the present security cuts will be more costly for some companies in the long term. Even a minor security breach can compromise thousands, if not millions, of files. It seems that the decrease in security spending is a probability risk. Advantage hackers.
