United Airlines to Charge Fat People Double

This may be considered good news for lawyers. It means lawsuits. It may mean a significant increase in business. United Airlines wants to charge overweight passengers double. Here is the criterion:
“…Under the rules outlined by United, passengers who “are unable to fit into a single seat in the ticketed cabin; are unable to properly buckle the seatbelt using a single seatbelt extender; and/or are unable to put the seat’s armrests down when seated” will be denied boarding unless they purchase an extra seat.”

Let’s suppose that Shaquille O’Neal wants to fly with United. He is over seven feet tall (2.16 meters) and, depending upon the time of the year, may weigh in at well over three hundred pounds (over 136 kilograms). One may have pity on the poor ticket agent who tells Mr O’Neal that he is overweight by their standards and needs to buy an additional ticket.
The point is that this regulation is subject to height and other variables. And there will be loud cries of discrimination.

Airlines should have been charging everyone by the pound (including baggage) from the beginning–should start ASAP.

So we’ll have Ryanair for the thin people and Fryinair for the hefty folks?

I think this is very fair. If people choose to be over weight and not have self control over their eating habbits, they should have to buy an extra ticket in irder to refrain from inconvieniencing other people.

WoW this is so crazy people need to look back in history at the way the airlines have changed their seat sizes. The airlines have shrunk their seat sizes by half just to get more people on the plane why should a fat person who may not be fat because of eating habits there are more healthy fat people then skinny people sounds funny but its true but question if a fat person gets to the ticket counter and iss told they cant board because they are fat they should get a full refund for their ticket with out fighting for it they wernt able to board the plane they dint burn any full so if the airlines want to ban fat people make sure there is a refund
