There are some organizations that are holding costs. For example, the Los Angeles Lakers will not be increases ticket prices for the next basketball season. Usually, there is a single digit percentage increase from year to year. Next year will be an exception.
Nevertheless, there are education institutions that want to increase tuition fees, regardless of the economy:
“Many universities in England and Wales want a sharp increase in tuition fees, a survey by BBC News has concluded.
Two thirds of vice chancellors, speaking anonymously, said they needed to raise fees, suggesting levels of between £4,000 and £20,000 per year.”

Such increases in tuition make it prohibitive for some potential students to continue their education. Politicians and educators tout how important education is. However, in a poor economy, the business of education is making it more difficult for people to acquire the skills to compete. Education will not be a measure of ambition, hard work or intellectual curiosity. It will be a measure of who had the financial resources.
