Salmonella Concerns Trigger Dog Treat Recall

For pet owners, it is like déjà vu. There is another pet treat recall. This time, it is related to the ongoing peanut butter recall:
“PetSmart is recalling seven of its Grreat Choice dog biscuit products because they contain peanut products made by a company that has been linked to a salmonella outbreak in 43 states and Canada, the Food and Drug Administration said Wednesday.”

Again, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) leaves much to be desired during this health concern. The FDA is suggesting consumers check with the manufactures’ web sites to find updates on the safety of products. However, the FDA will not confirm the validity of the information posted by individual manufacturers.

Fortunately, this seems to be a precautionary recall; no illness have been reported so far. And for anyone who’s looking for a complete list of recalled products (pet and human) the FDA is updating its “official” list as recalls are announced:
