Continuing with Windows XP

There are many people (myself included) and businesses that have stayed with or returned to Windows XP. It may be a matter of economics or a matter of too many Vista glitches. Now Microsoft is preparing to market Windows 7 as the “latest and greatest” operating system. For many of those Windows XP users, they remain firmly entrenched with the XP operating system. It works - and many people prefer to stay with a system that they know well.

Preston Gralla and Dave Methvin has put together an article about extending the longevity of the Windows XP operating system:

“Windows Vista may be shiny and brand new, but as plenty of PC users will tell you, sometimes newer isn’t better. Many PCs simply don’t have the horsepower to run the new operating system, and even those that have the juice may get bogged down by processor-and RAM-hungry Vista.

If you’ve got Windows XP, worry not — you can keep it running on your hardware for years to come…”

The usual disclaimers apply. However, if you do not want Vista and if you have no intention to be among the early users of Windows 7, then you might want to keep the aforementioned article bookmarked. There are years of possible reliable service in that Windows XP operating system and you may be from the “if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it” school of thought.

Can you upgrade from XP to 7 is the main question.I have 2 xp machines and one Vista.I enjoy all.Has problems all has with OS’s.But solves them.So would i upgrade the Vista computer to 7?The answer is no.I plan on running all my systems with what came on them for as long as i can.Would he have hardware problems?Would be a fine time to find out you cant, after plumping down the big bucks for a upgrade.Every OS Microsoft comes out with, claims to be better than the other. After all they in the business to sell them.I ran 98 and 98se for years before i purchase my other computers.Oh i did upgrade to Windows ME on one 98.Some say was a joke system. But seemed to do well for me.I guess it depends on what you want in a computer and how you use it.

What Do You Think?
