The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is offering greater assistance during these turbulent economic swings. The IRS knows that even the most conscientious tax-payer may be facing financial hardships:
“…The agency is offering greater flexibility in paying taxes if you are experiencing financial hardship, and it will even help you arrange payments.
If you already have a payment agreement and your situation has gotten worse, the agency may be able to help you avoid default. Options include adjusting payments, making allowances for missed payments or, in some cases, deferring collections.”

The IRS recognizes that certain concessions have to be made. This may extend to businesses as well as private citizens. It doesn’t hurt to ask - and it is a toll free number: 800-829-1040.
