Britain has been called the ‘Surveillance Society’. Justified by the need for security, there is a proliferation of surveillance cameras. Records of all telephone calls are kept in data bases. Tracking of all e-mails is forthcoming:
“…From March, all internet service providers (ISPs) will have to keep data about e-mails sent and received in the UK for a year. The content of individual e-mails will not be kept by the authorities, but the timing and number of each communication will be stored.”

At least the government will know now how much spam each British citizen receives. The government will know every contact made by e-mail with relatives, friends, businesses and websites. In pursuing security, there is no privacy.
