Preventing Cracking When Making Hard Boiled Eggs

It seems that there are more problems with hard boiled eggs that I imagined. After posting an article about how to prevent the egg from sticking to the shell, there were questions about how to stop the egg from cracking during the cooking process.

I will refer initially to my method for cooking the perfect hard boiled egg.

The cracking during cooking may result from the egg not being at room temperature. If the eggs have been stored in the refrigerator, the immediate contrast in temperature with the boiling water may cause cracking. There are two ways to prevent this. Sit the eggs out for the refrigerator for thirty to forty five minutes. This will have the eggs at room temperature.

If you are in a rush, you can warm the eggs with water from the hot faucet. Yes, that means you are warming the egg before you cook it. If anyone asks ‘why you are washing the egg?’, just let them know that you are beginning the cooking process. And you read it on the internet.

A fun way to get the shell off:

Add~ 1/2 tsp of baking soda to the cold water. After the eggs cool, crack and remove the shell ends. Blow on one end and the egg will pop out!
