You may not know who Alfred Shaheen was. However, you would recognize his product instantly. In fact, you may own a few of his products. Alfred Shaheen is credited with creating the Hawaiian shirt:

Thanks for the news. I am truly saddened. Never knew this was the work of one person. He’s now a hero of mine. I often joke that I’ve been collecting Hawaiian shirts for so long they’ve come and gone four times.
