Suing United Airlines for Alcohol Served

This is one of those lawsuits that can be filed under “bewildering”. A man assaults his wife and blames United Airlines for serving him too much alcohol:
“Yoichi Shimamoto says United Airlines was negligent for allowing him to continue drinking to the point of inebriation during a flight from Osaka, Japan to San Francisco.
Shimamoto claims it was the multiple glasses of Burgundy, served at 20 minute intervals, which led him to strike his wife Ayisha, while the couple were walking through customs in December 2006.”

It is surprising that the wife is not suing United Airlines too. It is not the United Airlines was forcing him to drink alcohol. It was a personal decision. Whatever happened to being personally responsible for one’s own conduct.

I am shocked that so many people who take no control over bad habits increasingly use the “blame game” to excuse themselves from ignorant behavior. How are they going to explain their lack of self discipline and crudeness to the Lord at the time of reckoning? Do they all think disobedience to His
Commandments will be excused by blaming someone else? Bad news folks, you were all born with “intelligence”, where did you lose it? Best get it out, dust it off and use it. “Peace on earth, good will to men” will only come about when we each, individually, take control of our own actions and follow Him whose birth we celebrate this Christmas Season. “Happy New Year” is wished for everyone but will only come at the price of obedience to the Commandments.
