While the Detroit auto makers talk about fuel saving and economic bailouts, there are concept vehicles that soon will see the roads. In Paris for 2009, there will be the AirPod. It is an air powered pod. Air is forced to the engine’s pistons:

It is economical, with absolutely no pollution. The travel range is two hundred and twenty kilometers (220 kilometers or 136 miles). The top speed is approximately 44 miles per hour (70 kmh) - and it has a joystick. The question may be whether you, the consumer, will accept city travel in a AirPod. The estimated cost of travel for about a hundred twenty miles is… four dollars.
