Koobface: A Facebook / MySpace Virus

There is a security alert for Facebook and MySpace users. The virus starts with a message to you to view a video:

“Hey, I have this hilarious video of you dancing. Your face is so red. You should check it out.

If you’ve received a message like that through Facebook or MySpace, you may have been exposed to the “Koobface” virus. “Koobface” comes through an e-mail sent by one of your social networking site friends inviting you to scope out a video.”

Facebook addressed this issue on their security page. – Even if you are not a Facebook and/or MySpace user, this might be a good time to upgrade your security definitions and run your security programs. Just check to see that your machine is not part of a bot network.
