The New York Knicks Are Running

When one team scores 82 points by half time, it is easy to conclude that there is not much defense being played. The final score of the game between the Golden State Warriors and the New York Knicks was 138 - 125. The Knicks added to their 82 first half points with 34 points in the third quarter and hung on to the lead to win.

Knicks Coach Mike D’Antoni used a very short bench. He played only two of the non-starters. Chris Duhon, with twenty two assists, played over forty five minutes.

The Golden State Warriors are not known for their defense. Nevertheless, Coach D’Antoni has the Knicks running, passing and scoring in a manner that reminds many people of his former Phoenix Suns team. It will have many basketball purists questioning how effective that style of play will be in the playoffs - if the Knicks can advance that far. That the talk turns to basketball instead of lawsuits, firing the coach, dealing with Stephon Marbury and a host of off-court issues may be a welcome change for the Knicks management. The Knicks are winning half their games - that is their best November in years. It is not a losing record and one has to go back to 2004 to find a better Knicks’ November.
