It seems that the effects of marijuana were known centuries ago. The marijuana plant may have been highly regarded and part of a burial ceremonies:
“Researchers say they have located the world’s oldest stash of marijuana, in a tomb in a remote part of China.
The cache of cannabis is about 2,700 years old and was clearly “cultivated for psychoactive purposes,” rather than as fibre for clothing or as food, says a research paper in the Journal of Experimental Botany.”

Marijuana may have been held in high regard - perhaps as a valued medical plant. The scientific speculation is that the marijuana was seen as a necessity to transition to the afterlife.

researchers also tried to germinate 100 marijuana seeds found in the stash but were unsuccessful. not good. they should’ve called on some professional potheads who understand different marijuana types to germinate the marijuana seeds found in this ancient marijuana stash.

I read a book about marijuana smuggling, and when I read this, I thought about how “advanced” we really are, that now people kill other people just to provide it. The book I put in the website becuase if anyone else is interested the guy seems to know a lot about it.
