The Injustice of the Julie Amero Case

The legal proceedings of the Julie Amero case have been settled. It remains unfair. The felony charges against Ms Amero have been dropped but she has lost her teaching license:

“A Connecticut substitute teacher arrested four years ago for allegedly showing students porn on a classroom computer has been cleared of the felony charges–for now–after experts pointed the finger at spyware.

Julie Amero, 41, agreed to plead guilty to a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, pay a $100 fine, and surrendered her teaching license, according to the Hartford Courant. The ordeal left her hospitalized for stress and heart problems, the report said.”

Ms Amero should not have to give up her teaching license. She did nothing wrong. It is unlikely, however, that Ms Amero would want to teach again. The school system did not serve her well.

One positive note is people like Alex Eckelberry, the CEO of Sunbelt Software, came to her defense. Kudos to Alex Eckelberry and the others would supported Julie Amero. Unfortunately, she continues to pay the price for the lunacy of that situation.

I agree

This is despicable. Why, if she did nothing wrong, should she have to plead guilty to anything? Sounds suspiciously like someone on the prosecution side didn’t want to lose face. What would have happened to her had she NOT pleaded guilty to these lesser charges? Sounds like she had her arm firmly twisted right up her back.
