e-Retailers Have Drop in Sales

The e-retailers are finding that the internet is reflective of the general economy. Shopping online is declining this year:

“…US net measurement firm comScore found that online shopping was in decline for the first time since it began measuring it in 2001.

Online shoppers in the US spent $8.2bn (£5.3bn) in November, down 4% on last year’s figures.”

Even with this decline, there is speculation that the online retailers have the superior advantage over brick and mortar outlets. People save on time and fuel by shopping online. And many online outlets are reducing or totally eliminating shipping charges. If the online retailers are experiencing an approximate four per cent decline in sales, business at Main Street retailers and malls may be grim. All retailers will be watching the sales numbers for Friday - Black Friday, with an expected high volume of holiday shoppers.
