Melamine in US Baby Food
The recent news of melamine includes the death of countless number of family pets when the food supply was contaminated. In the past months, there have been reports of melamine in the milk supply in China. Some deaths have been reported. Now there is a evidence of melamine in American infant formula:
“Traces of the industrial chemical melamine have been detected in samples of top-selling U.S. infant formula, but federal regulators insist the products are safe.
The Food and Drug Administration said last month it was unable to identify any melamine exposure level as safe for infants, but a top official said it would be a “dangerous overreaction” for parents to stop feeding infant formula to babies who depend on it.”

The Food and Drug Administration are trying to reassure the public that the melamine levels are within acceptable limits. However, the question remains how this chemical found its way into the food chain. And what research shows that, in the long term, there are no adverse impact from infants ingesting even trace amounts of melamine?

If we are killing young innocent babies, we need to STOP and SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOF TOPS. “THIS SI NOT RIGHT AND YOU ARE KILLING YOUR OWN ” STOP IT KNOW ARE WE MEN OR ARE WE SAVAGES” SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHY AND MAKE SURE SOMEONE ANSWERS FOR IT AND MAKE SURE THAT IT WILLDAMN NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. SOMEONE, ANYONE…EVEN ME..
i AM NO EXPERT, ESPECIALY ON THIS. BUT GIVE ME SOMETHING TO RUN WITH THAT HAS BACK UP AND ANYONE CAN GET THE MESSAGE OUT. THERE ARE BETTER MEN THAN I TO DO THAT JOB AND I WOULD FIGURE THEY WOULD JUMP FOR THE CHANCE.. I SURE HOPE SO…….. BILL SCHAUER

Thank you for this post.
I am outraged that it is deemed acceptable to have any amount of this substance in formula. As I tweeted today, First our pets, then babies in China, Whose next?
I am appalled that the FDA is giving a tacit consent to this contaminant being present in our food supply. They should enforce policies to correct the situation including breastfeeding promotion.
It is shocking to me how few health professionals seem concerned about the presence of melamine in infant formula here in the U.S. You think that would get their attention!
I guess we need yet another citizen revolution where we talk with our pocket books.
