A Method of Adding Firefox Extensions

The process of adding Firefox extensions should be a cautionary tale. Not all adds-ons are written equally well. Some of the add-ons may not play well with the extensions that are already on the computer. Others may be a drain on the computer resources.

It is a temptation, when looking through the Firefox Add-ons, to load up on the possible features. So many of the extensions look like ‘must-haves’. However, adding more than one extension at a time can lead to diagnostic nightmares.

If extensions are installed cautiously - perhaps one every few days, then it is possible to see if the add-on is problematic. Then the next one, a few days later, can be installed. This allows sufficient time to see if there are any adverse effects on the computer and to see if the new extension interferes with any of the previously installed add-ons.

This does require some patience. However, it saves time and it makes diagnosing a problem much simpler. If the computer or the previous extensions have a problem with the new add-on, then it is just one simple uninstall.
