The New York Times Pranked
The newspapers have had a rough time. There is dwindling circulation and advertisers are going to the internet. On top of that, The New York Times has to deal with pranksters. Some citizens of New York City were surprised to read the headline “Iraq War Ends”:
“…In an elaborate hoax, pranksters distributed thousands of free copies of a spoof edition of The New York Times on Wednesday morning at busy subway stations around the city, including Grand Central Terminal, Washington and Union Squares, the 14th and 23rd Street stations along Eighth Avenue, and Pacific Street in Brooklyn, among others.”

The spoofed edition is months ahead of the chronological date. The date of the spoof is July 4, 2009. Welcome to the future… The New York Times is not giving away its print edition for free yet.

The NY Times didn’t get pranked, the people on the subway did.

The only fact about the New York Times that would surprise me is that they would even realize they were being pranked!
