Using a Dog Blanket

It is very handy to have your dog trained to use a blanket as a place to rest. This can be in a certain area of a room - perhaps, in an area out of the way of general foot traffic. The dog can rest there and watch what is happening in the household. You can train the dog to a verbal command that sends the dog to the blanket. This blanket becomes very familiar to the dog and, as such, it can be transported and used in a variety of ways.
If you are travelling with the dog and staying at a hotel, it is a good idea to take the blanket along with you. It is an object with which the dog is familiar and it will be easier to settle the dog if the blanket is there and available. If the outing is closer to home, the blanket still is useful in that it can provide the dog with a familiar rest area. The blanket is a familiar sight picture for the dog and it carries scents that have pleasant association.
This is especially useful for dogs who are not fond of new and unfamiliar places. Having the dog’s blanket is a source of comfort for your canine pal. Undoubtedly, Linus, the most famous advocate of blanket comfort, would agree.

I definitely agree! I have an older dog who has several soft beds with blankets throughout the house so he always has a comfy place to curl up wherever I am.

We are two Maltese dogs and we would like to say Two Paws Up! for blankets. Also, this article makes us realize that the way to get our Humans to stop hogging the covers at night is to get them their own blankets, so they will quit taking ours. Outstanding points. Thanks, Your PaLs, LuLu and LoLLy!
