Legislation to Control Internet Piracy

The French government is attempting to control internet privacy. The proposed legislation would mean terminating the internet connection:

“…The French Senate voted overwhelmingly in favour of the law, which aims to tackle ongoing piracy of music, movies, and games online.

Those caught illegally sharing digital media will get warnings e-mailed and posted to them before having their net connection terminated.”

The challenge will be to distinguish what is a legitimate download and what constitutes piracy. A possible consequence of such legislation may be more efficient piracy.

One must strive for more efficiency in all endeavors, even in criminal activity. I, like the few remaining non-pirating Internet users (who also happen to be the last few people who actually by CDs and DVDs instead of searching P2P network file lists for their hearts’ desires), are tired of poor bandwidth problems caused by the rampant trade of stolen IP.

Failing the French approach, a completely separate network of cutting-edge data transmission pipes should be installed world-wide to allow for the unfettered trade of illegally acquired digital goods, freeing the bandwidth necessary for actual worthwhile data transmission to the few people still working for a living. After all, now that the Socialist Obama is elected President of the former greatest country in the world, there will be a lot more people sitting home and free-loading to their hearts content while receiving their checks from funds siphoned off of us last few working stiffs.

Gosh… I just LOVE the American definition of “stolen”! I wonder what the Cherokee think of internet piracy?
