Earlier in the week, there was speculation that Yahoo would eliminate about a thousand jobs. The speculation was an under-estimate. Yahoo will terminate fifteen hundred (1,500) positions:
“Yahoo announced Tuesday that it plans to cut at least 10% of its workforce, or more than 1,500 employees, in the fourth quarter in an effort reduce costs.”

Jerry Yang noted that Yahoo must reduce costs. He further noted that initiatives will “enhance productivity”. Can reducing the company’s work force by ten per cent go hand-in-hand with enhancing productivity? Microsoft will be watching.
