There is a condition called mobile phone dermatitis. It is a skin allergy that may be caused by cell phone use:
“…”In mobile phone dermatitis, the rash would typically occur on the cheek or ear, depending on where the metal part of the phone comes into contact with the skin. In theory it could even occur on the fingers if you spend a lot of time texting on metal menu buttons,” said Dr. Graham Lowe, from the British Association of Dermatologists.”

I did not know this. I’m glad I am not a jabber-mouth constantly on my cell phone. Does it apply to cordless phones as well?

I have this cell phone rash!! But I did not know what it was until this week. In the summer, it was on the right side of my face, ear and around hairline. It was red , blotchy and itched, and got even worse in the sun. In July, my Dr. gave me a prescription for Prednisone. We thought the cause could be my foam pillow among other things. I gave up my pillow and the other things,. But I was puzzled why it was only on one side. The prednisone worked. But gradually the redness has came back and gotten worse. Now ( in the fall) the right side of my face has become extremely dry and itchy, also the ear and hairline. I was dreading a visit to an allergist. But this week I saw on the news and read online about the nickel in the cell phone. Tomorrow I’m going to my doctor with this news. I’m so happy to have found out about this. I truly do not overuse my cell phone. Maybe one or two brief calls every other day. But I do have a couple of lengthly conversations on the weekends. I’m ging to check out a cover for the phone at the store.
