Google and General Electric have announced a collaborative venture:
“Deepening its foray into the renewable energy sector, Google said Wednesday it would work with General Electric to push for clean energy-friendly policies in Washington, D.C., and to develop geothermal and plug-in technologies.”

Google seems to be venturing into related businesses. For example, earlier this month, Google announced that it was involved in the satellite business, as well as geothermal exploration in August. There will be those who will see Google diversification as an unsettling spread of a technological giant and equate that growth as a accumulation of immense political and social power in one company. The challenge for Google will be to maintain its public image of being the “don’t-be-evil” company.
