Google Reduces Data Retention Time

One of the issues that privacy advocates have had with Google has concerned its data retention policy. With the data base, it is possible to link an internet user to specific online behaviour. Google has moved toward a shorter period to store user data:

“Google is to halve the amount of time it stores users’ personal search data in response to continued pressure from the EU over its privacy policy.

The search giant has said it will anonymise identifiable IP addresses on its server logs after nine months.”

Google has maintained that the data base is important for product development. There are many privacy / security groups that believe that even nine months is excessive.
