Michael Phelps: Overcoming ADHD Predictions to Eight Gold Medals

Nothing is impossible“, said Michael Phelps. He was talking about his record setting eight Olympic gold medals at the Beijing Olympics. However, that statement could apply to the long road to Beijing. And that road was marked by a diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (A.D.H.D.):

This stands as a clear recollection for Michael Phelps’ mother:

“…She will never forget one teacher’s comment: “This woman says to me, “Your son will never be able to focus on anything.’”

Perhaps that teacher was watching on this Saturday evening when Michael Phelps set an Olympic record and set standards for future Olympic athletes. Kudos to Michael Phelps and eight gold medals performances in Beijing - and congratulations, Mrs. Phelps, for not listening to that teacher.

It’s a good thing we have conscientious teachers to make astute medical diagnoses of our children.

The “chickification” of the Olympics where every athlete has a heart wrenching story to reach their Olympic dreams.

You never overcome ADHD you learn to manage it and make the most out of your life and the possitive things that ADHD provides in a life.

Well, melinda, that may be true if you believe that ADHD is something that ACTUALLY exists, and that it might be a problem which a human monkey might actually be CAPABLE of FIXING!

My youngest son has “ADHD”, according to his teachers, who want nothing more than to pump him full of experimental drugs. I, on the other hand, believe him to be a normal 10 year old, who would prefer to PLAY and have FUN, rather than to have a bunch of irrelevant WORK shoved down his throat by some stranger who wants to label him A PROBLEM!

What Do You Think?
