Police Officer Charged in Dog Partner’s Death

It is a sad reminder of how dangerous it is to leave a dog in a car. A police officer is facing criminal charges:

“…Officer Paul Hubka faces one misdemeanor count of leaving a dog in a closed car in a high temperature causing death. If convicted, he could face up to six months in jail, a fine and be ordered to pay restitution, a district attorney spokesman said.”

Here is a reminder of how hot the car can become in just ten minutes. - Perhaps I should post that article annually.

Pay restitution to who?

It costs a police force thousands of dollars of the tax payers’ money to train a police dog. There is considerable time and effort on the selection and training of a possible police dog - and that animal represents a considerable financial investment.
