Police Violate Warrants; Mayor’s Dogs Shot

It’s sickening. Various media resources are reporting that the police shot one of Mayor Calvo’s dogs while that Labrador Retriever was trying to run away:

“…Chase was shot while running away from sheriff’s deputies, Calvo said.

“He was hunted down and shot in the back while he fled,” he said. “They didn’t deserve to die. They don’t deserve to be blamed for their deaths.”"

How sick does one have to be to shoot a fleeing dog? - The family’s other dog was shot too. The warrant is dubious. And the website for the Prince George County Police is a waste of time.

This police department will learn that Americans may disagree on a whole wide range of issues. However, when it comes to dogs, the people do not equivocate. Across every demographic, dogs win. The Prince George County Police will see.

3 years ago in december the same thing happend to my husband. he runs a building supply company. he signed for a package from ups (not his regular driver) which he does many times a day. 20 minutes later he and 2 other business men in the area were arrested and held for 2 days. they were told that they were each send 70 lbs of marajuana. no one knew the sender (someone from california) he was later released. we filed a suit against NYC and won. law inforcement is aware of this and they need to be more cautious when raiding. but they wont be. shoot first ask questions later

Catherine, above, comments that the warrant was dubious. It is worse than that. It was NOT a no knock warrant and the police had NO right to break in like that did. I am a former criminal court judge (Riverside, CA Superior Court).
No knock warrants are reserved for situations where there is supported danger for the police officers or where evidence could be quickly destroyed. (32 pounds of MJ does not fall in that catagory.
I would never have signed a no knock warrant in that reported situation and, apparently the signing judge felt the same way.
This out of countrol police department should be sued for millions and the supervisors should all be fired, along with the trigger happy shooters.

Unfortunately this happens across the country on a regular basis. Our family had 2 (yes two) dogs shot by the police in their own private backyard. Why the officer entered the backyard — no answers provided. The police claim the dogs showed aggression. These were two of the sweetest dogs (german shepherd/lab mix and chow/lab mix) who NEVER showed any aggressive behavior towards anything or anyone - even a stranger was their friend. Why do the police have to use the most deadly force on an animal? They have tazer guns; they have mace; and they have clubs. These dogs were shot for game by a trigger happy police officer.

I asked the same question as the Mayor’s wife - How do you trust the Police when they do shot innocent animals???
