It appears that the bicyclist had no idea that the police officer wanted him to stop. The officer did stop him and slammed him to the ground:
“…The videotape has raised concerns about the officer’s sworn account that the bicyclist deliberately drove into him last Friday evening during a Critical Mass bicycle ride in Times Square, a source said.”

The video speaks for itself. The bicyclist is Christopher Long. Apparently, the police officer does not think that Mr Long is one of the citizens that he is hired to protect.

The cop should be given a medal. Bicyclist think they own the road blockling whole lanes. Give them an inch and they try to take the road. Then they cry when the inevitable happens.

It’s sad and infuriating to know that our law enforcement can almost get away with something like this. It should make one wonder, how much do law enforcement officials get away with simply because they’re law enforcement?
It’s a shame that in a court of law their word carries more weight than mine by virtue of their profession. Based on this officer’s behavior - having watched the video - I’d say he needs to be kicked off the force and maybe thrown in jail for a while. That is inexcusable for someone who is sworn to protect us to do something so despicable… In public with hundreds of eye witnesses no less.
