Brett Favre to Report to Training Camp

This is like a bad soap opera. It is also like the breakup of a bad marriage where both sides have been making public blunders. One suspects that the private utterances are worse. Now, Brett Favre has escalated the acrimony by stating his intention to report to training camp:

“NEW YORK (Reuters) - Brett Favre has told Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson he plans to return to the team and report to training camp this weekend, the NFL Network reported on Friday.”

With the distinct lack of welcome from the Green Bay Packers’ management, how can Brett Favre even entertain the possibility of playing for the team again? The trade possibilities are limited because management would look terrible if Brett Favre played for another team and came back to beat the Packers. And like the dissolution of a bad relationship, there are no right answers, especially when there are huge egos and millions of dollars involved. It is now a matter of pride… and saving face.

Honestly, I’m a Packer fan and as much as I love Brett, his time is done. Arron Rogers can do his job and should do his job. If anything, Brett should be a second or third string quarterback. He’s part of Packer history and that’s where he should stay, in the past.
