Microsoft: Reading the Fine Print

The Windows XP Pro installation discs were wrapped in clear plastic. On the plastic was a sticker with the registration code. It is a multicolour sticker with a bar code, proof of licence, product key and other information.

Obviously, the product key is essential for installing the operating system. However, the print is tiny. I mean it is really small. It is, for example, impossible to tell whether one symbol is an “8″ or a “B”. And it is just not my eyes. I don’t need glasses for reading or driving. When I asked others to read the product key, they had trouble too.

In the midst of fiddling with computer issues, a Microsoft customer does not want to have to go out to the store to purchase an magnifying glass in order to read the product key. I have no idea why Microsoft want to use such a small font for a key piece of information. However, it is remarkably dim witted. - Microsoft, you are annoying and I wish I could charge you for the cost of a magnifying lens.

I read that the complaint line is now handled by Carl Icahn. Good luck.
