Marine Ousted for Puppy Tossing Incident

In March of 2008, there was a video posted to YouTube involving a member of the U.S. Marines. This video, since removed from YouTube, showed the Marine tossing a puppy off a cliff. The incident was investigated by the Marines and punishment has resulted:

“(CNN) — The U.S. Marine Corps has disciplined two Marines over a videotape that showed a Marine throwing a puppy over a cliff, the military said Wednesday.

…Lance Cpl. David Motari is being processed for removal for his role, the Marine Corps said, and Sgt. Crismarvin Banez Encarnacion also has been punished.”

While the posting was callous and horrific, it may speak to a broader issue. It may be indicative of the psychological trauma of having served in combat. These two people may be the focus of scorn and contempt. However, this incident may be a harbinger of greater social and security problems as military personnel return from combat.

Yep, no chance that a person just living here in the states doing their thing would kill a dog for fun… never happens.

That’s right Martin… civilians never do things like this. All of us crazy Marines do things like this all the time though. I just snap and the next thing you know 5 puppies are missing from my neighborhood. This jerk off got what he deserved. This is so beyond what the Marine Corps is about. It has nothing to do with combat. It was unfortunate he was a part of my Marine Corps.

Semper Fi, Doug. And right on.
