Most of the publicity about the Boston Celtics will focus on the Big Three: Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. The Celtics will rely on this trio to carry a majority of the scoring. The player who may make the winning difference could be Rajon Rondo.

The starting matchup will be Rajon Rondo against Derek Fisher. What Rajon Rondo gives up in experience to Derek Fisher, he makes up in youth and speed. If Rajon Rondo can move the ball into the paint, he will make Kevin Garnett even more dangerous. Further, it will allow Ray Allen just a bit more time to release his shots from near or beyond the three point line.

If Rajon Rondo cannot be a constant and consistent scoring threat, Kevin Garnett will see much more double coverage. Even after two years as a professional basketball player, Rajon Rondo knows that reputations are made in the playoffs. And a series between the Lakers and the Celtics will occupy the biggest stage. It will be a well watched ‘final exam’ for Rajon Rondo.
