Airlines Weighing Passengers

“How much do you weigh? Your air carrier may want to know:

“Imagine two scales at the airline ticket counter, one for your bags and one for you. The price of a ticket depends upon the weight of both.

That may not be so far-fetched.”

If the airlines proceed with such a scheme, undoubtedly there would be lawsuits about discrimination. Imagine if other industries adopted this same pricing criterion. Bigger people would be charged more than small people when buying exactly the same shirt in different sizes. The rationale would be that the large size takes more material and was more costly to transport.

If the air carriers adopt this plan, there would be one sector that would have a significant increase in professional work. That sector would be lawyers.
