Taser Use on Pregnant Women
In Canada, the Vancouver Police will restrain themselves from using the stun gun on pregnant women. And the reason is that these women might fall and hurt themselves:
“…”That’s your only concern?” asked inquiry lawyer Patrick McGowan.
“At this point, yes,” replied Const. Tammy Hammell, coordinator of the conducted energy weapons (Tasers) program for the Vancouver police force.”

Apparently, the effect of a jolt of electric current on a growing fetus is not that much of a concern, “at this point”, to Constable Hammell.

The RCMP yesterday tasered an 82year old man in a hospital bed. The man was apparently suffering from some form of oxygen depriviation induced delirium , and had a pocket knife.

I’d like to have some respect for the police but this continued indiscriminate use of tasers just wipes any credibility away that they once had
