A Bad Day for Identity Theft

It is a grim day for statistics on identity theft. Here is a sample of just three headlines that have crossed the news services within the last day:

link: 700,000 Hoosier ID’s compromised in computer theft

link: Health data missing

link: Stolen laptop had data on 16,000 Buffalo State, SUNY students

Those are just three of the headlines that have garnered national attention. If one searches, there are more incidents of security issues and data breaches. It would not be difficult to run the total close to (or over) a million people who have had their personal information compromised. And that is just for the last day alone. At this rate, what chance does one have of not being a victim of identity theft?
