NBA: Where Immaturity Happens
Carmelo Anthony was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence (DUI). - No. It can’t be. The story must be about someone else. Carmelo Anthony wouldn’t be out late and drinking while his team is in the midst of a run for post season play. Would he?
This is not the first time that Carmelo Anthony has generated negative press. There was the Stop Snitching video that was not a resounding endorsement of police procedures. Then there have been links to controlled substances. Each time, Carmelo Anthony has been able to continue to play professional basketball. And, at the moment, there is a chance for his Denver Nuggets team to advance well into the post season play. For the Denver Nuggets, this has to be a distraction.
What ever happened to having a designated driver? Carmelo Anthony certainly does not lack for funds to have a driver available at any time of the day or night.
And after a few news cycles, this story will fade. What works to Carmelo Anthony’s advantage is that people like a tale of redemption. With a good public relations firm, the best legal assistance that money can buy and a consistent jump shot, perhaps the story of redemption will be told again.
