Firefox: Going Directly to The Wanted Tab

With the goal of keeping your hands on the keyboard, there is a method in Firefox to go directly to the tab that you need. Imagine that you have seven tabs opened in Firefox. Starting from the first tab listed on the far left, assign that to be ‘tab number one’. The next tab to the right is ‘tab number two’ and so on. You are making this labeling in your head. No Firefox changes are needed.

Now, let’s say you want to go to the fifth tab. Press: Ctrl + 5

Firefox will take you instantly to the fifth tab. It works with each tab, as long as you have the number sequence correctly in mind. It’s fast and your hands never leave the keyboard. It’s just another way to avoid using the mouse.

This tip might cause a bit of trouble in OS X 10.5. Control + a number is used by Spaces by default to directly choose a space number.

But, it’d have no conflicts if you aren’t using Spaces, are on an earlier version of OS X, or on Windows.

Thanks for the tip!
