Google Looks for Skilled Workers

There is a small story that likely will not receive much media attention. Google is looking for workers and apparently this employer cannot find the skills it needs within the United States:

“Google Inc. has again called on the U.S. government to boost the number of foreign-worker visas it issues in order to increase the country’s innovation capability.”

link: Google urges more foreign-worker visas for U.S.

It has been jingoistic rhetoric that the American worker is the best in the world. That statement should be modified to read “the educated American worker”. Google is highly regarded as an employer. Unfortunately, it cannot find enough skilled American workers to fill jobs on American soil. It is a telling condemnation of the present education system. In a country that touts ‘No Child Left Behind’, the work force cannot supply a premier employer with adequate skilled personnel.

It looks to me to be a supply/demand problem for Google.
They simply need to attract employees from other employers, there are enough workers. It maybe that these skilled workers do not want to change jobs with the incentive presented to them, Google increase the offer and you’ll get skilled workers. The positive side effect is the competition will be left with the inferior skill set.
