Silda Spitzer: Political Theater

It must be unimaginably tough. Silda Spitzer stood to her husband’s right side, as he faced the media and made a statement. It was political theater.
Must this be the standard procedure for a husband’s public embarrassment? Must there be the dutiful wife on-stage scene?
Silda Spitzer is a Harvard graduate - a lawyer - mother of three teenage daughters. This news of her husband’s dalliances must have been heart-wrenching. And then, to stand before a national / international press group and have images and private sorrow beamed around the planet, it simply adds to the pile. Perhaps the media will have the decency to leave her alone and allow Silda Spitzer her privacy. She deserves some grace.

This is just insanity. I dont’ care if I was married to the King of the World himself… were that me, I’d not stand there in support. He’d be talking to me through my lawyer, plain and simple. It’s horrible the things these political wives go through, for the sake of “the office”. My heart goes out to her, and kudos for the strength of character she has.

Poor woman.
If she plays her cards right, she could be a presidential candidate next time around.

Bob your shooting too low. I say see kicks the bum out now let his career suffer as it should. Contact her political party ASAP Harvad grad with law degree seeking Vice Presidency position - baggage already discarded publicly. Shows she can make the hard decision that is the right decision.

I take a different twist on “Women Married to Politicians”. I believe that there is an unspoken alliance that they will stand by them when they falter for all of the royalties that are bestowed upon them during their reign as king and queen of whatever. I also believe that many of these high power women would just as soon see their husbands go to prostitutes (hopefully not getting caught) as to be a normal wife having to perform sexually with their husbands. I am not excusing the husbands behavior, I just think that it is all part of the game. If we were to throw out all of the men/women in Washington (DC) or other political arenas that have strayed I don’t think there would be too many left. Then again this may be a good idea, a way to freshen up our country again.
