The Two Second Hug Is Acceptable

A hug for two seconds is acceptable. A three second hugs is problematic. And the students think it is ridiculous:
“MESA, Ariz. — A school policy banning student hugging prompted dozens of east Valley students to protest with a giant group hug across the street from campus.”

In Mesa, public displays of affection are frowned upon. Do they have school personnel specifically trained to time hugs? Will it go on a student’s permanent academic record? Perhaps an academic file can be flagged for ‘being affectionate’. Let’s stop the affection early before it becomes a problem…

This is simply a step in a developing relationship ecology. We are moving towards a world in which the only situations where touching another person will be permitted and legal is when a complete contract of understanding has been signed by both parties. Spontaneous and emotional behaviour is distracting to your office-mates, and in the modern corporation, cannot be tolerated — so it is best if we train this out of people early, when they are still children.
This is all a consequence of Women’s Liberation and the rise of lawfare as a means of implementing social change — so we had better get used to it!
